The Punjab School Education Department (PSED) has mandated all public and private schools in the province to adopt the Educational Institutions Security Status (EISS) Mobile Application and Web Portal.
The new digital system will help to enhance the security monitoring at educational institutions and build up centralize database, where the authorities could more efficiently manage the compliance.
Punjab Directs Schools to Implement EISS System
The directive was announced by Directorate General (Monitoring and Evaluation) via a letter dated 23rd August 2026.
All District Education Authorities’ (DEA) Chief Executive Officers (CEO) have been directed to share the directions with the principals of public and private schools in their district and make sure they are implemented.
The school administration will now be expected to inform the EISS about information concerning their security arrangements and other requirements.
What Is the EISS Mobile App and Web Portal?
Educational Institutions Security Status (EISS) is a platform to create a centralized digital database of security related information of educational institutions across Punjab.
The system was designed in the guidance of the Punjab Home Department and the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) was tasked to develop and operationalize the digital platform.
Authorities will have access to real-time information on all aspects of school security, thanks to the system, without having to rely solely on manual reporting.
Schools Required to Submit Security Information
Under the new system, school administrations will have to log in to the EISS mobile application or web portal using their existing or designated official credentials.
They will have to give information regarding the aspects of security and other parameters as prescribed by the department.
There is also a need for schools to provide the correct information in the system, as these are the guidelines that have been given:
- Accurate
- Complete
- Current
- Regularly updated
In addition, school administrators will have to maintain their security information and not consider the online submission as a one-off process.
Centralized Monitoring of School Security
The EISS platform will act as one central system to receive security data from all educational institutes of Punjab.
The system will enable the relevant authorities to track the compliance with the security requirements stipulated in the system and review the security status of the institutions in a more efficient manner.
The digital solution is also likely to give authorities greater timely information and help them to better manage security arrangements.
EISS to Become Part of Five-Tier Monitoring System
The EISS platform will also be an integral part of Punjab’s five tier monitoring system for educational institutions.
At Level-I, schools will conduct self-assessments of their security arrangements through the EISS platform.
The self-assessment process will enable school leaders to self-evaluate their compliance and give education authorities digital information for additional monitoring.
Role of School Heads
The new system will have important implications for the heads of public and private schools.
They will be required to make sure their institution is on the EISS platform and that the data they submit is reflective of the school’s current security protocols.
Regular updates will also be required if there has been any changes in information or security measures on the system.
Why Punjab Is Introducing the Digital Security System
The centralized EISS system is designed to enhance the process of gathering, monitoring and reviewing security information in educational institutions in Punjab.
According to the department, the platform will help authorities:
- Monitor prescribed security requirements
- Improve administrative oversight
- Identify compliance gaps
- Maintain updated institutional security records
- Support real-time monitoring
- Use data for security-related policymaking
The information gathered might also be used to create better policies driven by the security conditions and needs of schools throughout the province.
The Punjab government’s decision to mandate the use of EISS Mobile Application and Web Portal in public and private schools is a step towards digital monitoring of educational institution security.
The system will consist of a centralized database and digital self-assessment, which will help to give education authorities’ more organized and up-to-date information on security arrangements across the province.
