The public holiday is observed throughout the province and the majority of government institutions and offices will be closed during the day.
Emergency Services to Remain Operational
Emergency and essential services are continuing to run, as well as ensuring citizens have uninterrupted access to other critical services.
Staff and arrangements will be in place and maintained by relevant departments in the event of an emergency during the holiday break.
Independence Day Celebrations
On August 14, Pakistan celebrates its independence with a day of remembrance since it gained independence from India in 1947. It is a day of flag-hoisting, national events and special programs held throughout the nation.
The August 14 holiday this year is on a Friday, so for those in the organizations with a regular Friday holiday, there will be an extended weekend.
Citizens are reminded to adhere to official announcements of local Independence Day activities, traffic flow and availability of essential public services.
