The month of August 2026 will also be a month of vacation for the Pakistanis, with 5 Sundays and 2 government gazetted vacations.
Based on the official public and optional holidays calendar released by the Cabinet Division, there will be five holidays (five weekly holidays) in August on August 2, 9, 16, 23, and 30.
The Federal Government has announced August 14 as a public holiday in celebration of Pakistan’s Independence Day and August 25 as a public holiday on the occasion of Eid Milad-un-Nabi (12th Rabi-ul-Awwal 1448 AH), in addition to the weekly holidays.
Many government employees and workers are expected to enjoy a total of seven holidays in the month of August with these two public holidays, along with August’s five Sundays.
Private sector holidays may differ from company to company, depending on their operation and contracts.
Earlier, the Cabinet Division had announced the complete list of public and optional holidays for the entire year 2026, allowing the government departments, organizations and educational institutions to make their provisions for their annual schedules.
