The federal government has granted its approval to a nationwide online international driving license system, which will enable citizens of Pakistan to apply for an international driving license online via the National Police Bureau (NPB).
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi announced this fact during the meeting at the National Police Bureau Tuesday while chairing it. The project targets to make the application process easier, especially for Pakistanis who want to go abroad, he said.
The new system will allow applicants to apply for international driving permits online, avoiding the need to go to government offices. The government hopes the digital platform will decrease delays, make things easier and make it easier for citizens to use.
The interior minister also said a national system for issuing international driving permits and police clearance certificates will be rolled out all over the country. The decision aims to unify the nation’s services and remove variations in the procedures between different provinces.
Furthermore, the National Police Bureau will enable applicants to submit a request for police clearance certificate and allow for the processing of police clearance certificate through its online police clearance certificate processing portal, in which the applications will be processed without requiring applicants to appear at the police offices.
Mohsin Naqvi stated that modernization and activation of NPD is one of the government’s priorities and they are highly focused on digitalization and better public services.
The minister, during his visit, inspected the work in progress on the renovation of the NPB’s headquarters and was given a full briefing on the modernisation of the NPB, digital transformation projects and administrative reform.
