The Directorate General of Immigration and Passports (DGI&P) has officially kick started a home delivery service of passports in partnership with TCS so that the citizens can avail this convenience instead of visiting the passport offices.
The new initiative has been launched under the guidance of the Interior Minister, Mohsin Naqvi, who is continuing the process of modernisation of the passport process and making it convenient for the public.
Passport Home Delivery Service Introduced
The news was made at the Immigration and Passports Headquarters (IHQ) during a meeting with the Director General Immigration and Passports Muhammad Ali Randhawa and a TCS delegation led by Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Hassan Raza Laghari.
The new agreement will make TCS the official delivery partner for the Directorate General of Immigration and Passports. After completing the passport issuance process, applicants can now opt to receive their passports via the courier service to their homes.
Easier and More Convenient Passport Collection
The former procedure was for applicants to go to passport offices and pick up their passports. The citizens could get passports at their convenient address with the advent of home delivery of passports, thus avoiding a second trip.
According to authorities, the programme will be more efficient in passport collection and would be more convenient for the people of the country.
Government Aims to Improve Public Services
The passport home delivery service is a part of the general administrative reforms which are meant to improve the quality of public services, according to the Directorate General of Immigration and Passports.
The plan is to make the essential public services more citizen-friendly through efficiency, accessibility, and convenience and is in keeping with the government’s vision in this regard, the department said.
The service will give applicants a quicker, safer and more efficient delivery of their passport, officials added.
TCS Becomes Official Delivery Partner
The partnership will be implemented with TCS providing secure delivery of passports from the Directorate General of Immigration and Passports.
The partnership will improve the passport issuance process by providing a secure courier service for passport holders who want to have their passports delivered to them instead of collecting them in person.
Additional details of the operation, such as delivery methods and service fees, will be conveyed via official channels.
Citizens Can Choose Home Delivery Option
For applicants who apply for a passport, they will now have the opportunity to choose the home delivery option when applying for a passport (if available).
The service aims at saving time, cutting travel and making it easier and more convenient for people that might find it hard to visit the passport offices again, especially older people and working professionals.
Authorities have advised applicants to stick to the guidelines provided by the authorities in the selection of the home delivery facility.
The launch of the home delivery of passport marks another step towards the improvement of public service delivery in Pakistan. The Directorate General of Immigration and Passports is on a mission to make passports easier, safer, and faster to get for its citizens with TCS.
The scheme is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to improve public services and overall service delivery to passport holders throughout the nation.
